Even though the TITANS-Caraga Regional Science High School lost to SPUS 58-52, to open the 3rd Mayor Ernesto Matugas Inter Secondary Basketball Tournament in Surigao City squad proved that adage true by showing that it could go head-to-head against a much taller and more experience squad.
Firing blanks
In the end, however, it was outside shooting, or lack thereof, that spelled doom for the Caraga. Early in the game, after repeated incursions by Titans slashers into the shaded lane, SPUS start hitting three point shots in the 3rd period. that gives a break out in the game.
.
But the CRSHS gunners kept firing blanks. Marius Derigay shot just 0-of-8 from beyond the arc, while Jestonie Rebuta shot 1-of-1 in a minute of playing time. Aside from this two, nobody tries to make an attempt from three-point distance.
Derigay shot four three-pointers to try to tie the game in the dying seconds, missing all of them. Here’s hoping those shots drop for the Caragar Regional Science High School for the rest of its campaign in the Mayors Cup.
